RIP OnePlus – Ft Nord CE 4

So this is the first OnePlus phone to have bloatware, even app suggestions like Realme. Okay, so this is the latest OnePlus Nord CE 4, and now let me ask you a question. Why do you buy OnePlus phones? Pause the video and comment now. Also, we ask the team, Why do you buy OnePlus phones? No ad, clean software, best performance in price, brand value. Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Now straight up, the question is, Pratik, should we buy the OnePlus Nord CE 4? In my opinion, I think OnePlus is changing, and this is the new OnePlus in town. And without any delay, this is the good, the bad, and the worse with the OnePlus Note C E4. Now, immediately, the good thing about the Note C E4 is that, as soon as you open the box, you get the cover. Oh, that’s a good cover. You get some paperwork, stickers, but more importantly, a 100W charger, a Type A to Type C cable, OnePlus style. So everything that you want is inside the box.

Now, you won’t be able to charge your laptop with this 100-watt charger. You guys know the reason. Comment below if you know the reason; let’s see if you have gotten wiser. But overall, where brands are removing stuff from the box, it’s appreciated that OnePlus is keykeeping it. Points for that. But before we get to the most controversial part that I found while setting up the phone, let’s talk about the looks. Personally, I think it looks more similar to the first OnePlus Nord, like the OG one. That was also our first smartphone video ever on TechWise or YouTube. And I don’t know whose idea this was,, but have a look at this raised camera island. Can you see it? It’s not symmetrical, like they could have just ended it here. I’ve been using this for two to three days now, and I cannot unsee it. The Nord CE4 doesn’t have an alert slider, but that’s always been the case with Nord CE phones, and I really like the in-hand feel of this phone. For a phone that has a 5500 mAh battery, it is pretty lightweight; it weighs in at like 186–187 grams. On the front, you get a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. Now this display supports 1100 nits of peak brightness. A really good thing is that if you go to the official OnePlus website, they also mention 900 nits in high brightness mode. Now, 900 nits is the actual brightness that you will see outside while you are viewing the screen, apps, and icons, and especially in summer, I think high brightness mode is the number that we should be looking for rather than those gimmicky peak brightness nits. Also, the phone supports HDR on YouTube as well as Netflix. Even the colors while watching movies are pretty good. The other day, I was watching Jolly LLB on Disney Plus Hotstar. The audio from the stereo speakers was also pretty good; it’s bassy and clear. And this is very important.

If I keep the Note C4 beside a flagship in low light, you can see there is very little flickering. So while watching late-night movies or using a phone in the dark, this display is good for your eyes. So overall points for OnePlus for not taking anything away from the display and the build. Another thing that I loved was battery life. Like currently, the battery life is 15%. In the meantime, we’ll cook Maggi in the microwave, and yes, if you are in the office, you cook Maggi in the microwave. This is it. And it’s about 8 minutes; after 8 minutes, the Nord C4 is back to 43–44%. That’s crazy. Super-fast charging is like a luxury; once you have experienced it, there’s no going back. It supports 100W charging and can go 100% in about half an hour, plus the battery is 5500mAh, so it easily lasts you one and a half days even on heavy usage. Again, points for that. But the camera is where the bad things start. This year you get a 50MP main camera with OIS, but this is a LYT600 sensor, which is a downgrade from last year’s Sony IMX890. Like the same sensor is found on Realme 12 Plus, which sells for under 20,000 rupees, and honestly, the photos from it are decent. This photo is really good, but the next photo at the same place in the same pose is overexposed here. The portrait mode edge detection is good, but the photo has a pinkish tint over it. We also took some photos side by side with the Nothing Phone 2A, and both of them took more or less similar photos. In fact, the Nothing Phone 2A sometimes is even worse.

For the selfies, I found them to be good, like even in this photo of me and Sayan, the edge detection is bang on overall. It’s an average camera at this price, but I believe a Realme 12 Pro or even 12 Pro Plus is a far better camera at this price point. I believe this is what one plus was known for in years and we have had a good prediction history with one plus like first it was I feel oxygen OS will be totally removed from one the series that got true and then there’s no ads and recommendation in oxygen OS yet and well I just set up the phone blank usually one plus doesn’t come with any bloatware but you had Netflix which is fine but then there’s bubble pop word connect tile match and it even ask about the installation during the setup and even if you let that go this is a realme UI phone this is a OnePlus Nord CE 4 on OxygenOS if I search browser on both see the app suggestions let’s do another one face same exact suggestions on OxygenOS as well as realme UI the only difference here is if I tap on any suggestion on OxygenOS on the Nord CE 4 it leads to Google Play Store and on realme UI it leads to realmes app market now you can go here tap on more disable global search done but the point here is it’s all color OS app market suggestion and at the moment it just leads to Google Play Store here and if you leave all of that they shouldn’t have been there in the first place and now as per Twitter they are improving it in some OnePlus phones and apart from that we noticed a few bugs like the other day you see the touch itself wasn’t responding inside Google Chrome it was all blank now it’s not like everything is bad with Oxygen OS like the haptics here on the Nord C4 is really good like when you swipe up browse through the app preview it’s one of the best in this price range but But again, you know the core Android enthusiast in me, which loved OnePlus, is now somewhat shifting towards Nothing OS. There’s a new feature and a well-thought-out UI.

I’m using these mono-theme icons on Nothing OS, and this way I don’t feel like opening unnecessary social media apps like Instagram and Snapchat quite often. And nothing is doing really well in terms of software features. That Oxygen OS charm is somehow now shifting towards Nothing OS again. That software point just goes out from here. In terms of performance, OnePlus has done a good job. You get the latest Snapdragon 7th Gen 3, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and in that area, it beats the Nothing Phone 2A. Like in every benchmark, it scores better, but coming back to the conclusion, is this the best phone that you can buy under 25,000 rupees? Well, that’s the thing. If you need good software, get Nothing Phone 2A. If you want good performance, the Poco X6 Pro undoubtedly has the best performance. If you want a good camera, get the Realme 12 Pro, a really good camera phone. not C4. Let us know if you are rocking a OnePlus phone right now.
